Well, it only took 10 days, my California driver’s license arrived!
Actually here in California, it’s called a DRIVER LICENSE, without the ‘s, but that doesn’t sound right to me so I say driver’s license.
I’d show you a picture of it, but there’s too much information on there that would be unwise to share, so you’ll just have to imagine what it looks like.
I can’t begin to explain how wonderful this seemingly mundane occurrence is. It’s the key to changing my name at the bank, and from there, credit cards, etc. So it’s a big deal, and it’s been over a year coming. I filed my name change paperwork with the California Supreme Court in November. Of 2020.
I’ve written here about the many delays and hassles that have taken place since then, so I won’t rehash them here. Suffice it to say, it shouldn’t take over a year to get your new social security card and driver’s license after the court has approved your name change. But for me, it did.
It’s been frustrating and angering and it’s brought me to tears at times, but now that it’s done (or mostly done, – getting my passport could be an entirely different bag of stinky fish) I’m not thinking about the obstacles anymore. Just the clear path ahead.
