Ah, the walls continue to close in on your friendly neighborhood trans gal. It’s bad for us, yes, but it’s bad for everyone. The country is unhinged because the people in charge are unhinged. Things feel crazy because the people in charge are crazy. It feels like democracy is being thrown into a dumpster because democracy is being thrown into a dumpster.
There was an episode in the old Twilight Zone series called, “It’s a Good Life.” Remember it? A boy named Anthony uses his powers to banish anyone who annoyed him or thought “unhappy thoughts” to “the cornfield.” You didn’t want to go to the cornfield. It wasn’t a cool hang. So every adult around the boy constantly fed his ego, and whatever awful thing he did to someone or something they’d all say, “That’s a real good thing you done, Anthony, a real good thing!”
Watch a video of any Trump cabinet meeting and you’ll see a dozen soulless lackeys and plastic surgery victims praising Agent Orange, “That’s a real good thing you done, Master President sir, a real good thing!” Proof positive that we are living in The Twilight Zone right now. Today.
But while the naked mole-rats are busy dismantling everything that used to make the United States a great place to live, they are inordinately—mind-bogglingly inordinately—focusing their weird, hung up little selves on trans women.
I say trans women, because none of the anti-trans kooks ever think about or mention trans men. Wonder why? Maybe part of it is their dark-ages belief that men are superior to women. So a “man” who becomes a woman is turning their back on the idea of male superiority. It’s an affront to indignant penises everywhere.
Their argument always comes down to ever person, animal, or plant on earth being either biologically male or biologically female. During any discussion about trans women, the dullest among them will invariably pose what they think is their big gotcha! question, “What is a woman?”
First of all, that’s not a question, it’s a crowbar meant to pry open space for the statement they want to make, which is, trans women aren’t women. Whatever. Girl, why so obsessed? Honestly, they talk about us more than we talk about ourselves (and we talk about ourselves a lot). They literally can’t stop ruminating about us.
I might be weird (might?) but when I don’t like something, I tend to avoid it. I don’t want to see it or think about it, It isn’t part of my life. Not so the transphobes and religious kooks (usually one in the same, I know). When they don’t like someone they devote their lives to hating them.
Which is sad. Life is short. But if you wake up every day wondering what on earth you’re going to do to fill the seemingly endless hours of nothingness, I guess a hobby is called for. But where does the hobby of hating anyone who isn’t like you come from? Are they picking that up at Hobby Lobby? Chick-fil-A? The gun show?
I refuse to state the obvious gender isn’t binary anymore. I’m tired. I won’t talk about that because it feels defensive and defense only legitimizes their attempt to deny who I am. My being doesn’t require defense. I don’t need to justify my existence. I am not up for debate. Get yourself a different hobby, Bobby. I ain’t going anywhere.
Math and sociology and all that science they don’t believe in, tells us that 10% of MAGA are likely queer, and 1% likely trans, so honestly, I wish that 10 or 11 percent would come out and play in the sunshine. Or hate in the sunshine or whatever they’re going to do. I feel empathy for any trans person who’s stuck in the closet, even MAGA closets. Yes, girl, I don’t love you, but I see you.
Anyway, whatever their reasons, they are coming for us. But Ay, there’s the rub as Hamlet would say. Because they aren’t only coming for trans people, we’re just first in line.
You’re next.
So if anyone ever asks you, “What is a woman?” maybe just run away. To another country if you can. If there are any sane countries left.
I don’t know if this says what I wanted it to say but it was starting to feel forced, so it was time to go. Send your complaints to post office box 639, Joshua Tree CA 92252.
